This remote portion of Maine is called the Sunrise Coast because the region is first in America to see the morning sun. Eastport is an artist's colony located on Moose Island and easily accessible by a causeway to the mainland. Look across the bay at Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada, Franklin Delano Roosevelt's summer home. Other historic sites to visit are the Burnham Tavern in Machias and the Ruggles House in Columbia Falls. Not to be missed are East Quoddy Head Light on Campobello and West Quoddy Head Light in Lubec.
